THE BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN ON VIRGINIA DEATH ROW: BRANDON HEDRICK (EXECUTED BY ELECTRIC CHAIR ON JULY 20, 2006)

On this date, July 20, 2006, an American murderer and rapist, Brandon Hedrick was executed by the electric chair at the Greensville Correctional Center in Jarratt, Virginia. He was convicted of the May 10, 1997 rape and murder of an African American woman, Lisa Yvonne Alexander Crider. He was another example of a White American put to death for the murder of an African American. I got the information from Wikipedia and clarkprosecutor.org.

Although, he did deserve to die for his crime, I am thankful that he became a born again Christian. I could tell by his last words, that he was repentant and accepted his punishment. As one of my beloved Theologians, Saint Thomas Aquinas was quoted as saying:

"...a secondary measure of the love of God may be said to appear. for capital punishment provides the murderer with incentive to repentance which the ordinary man does not have, that is a definite date on which he is to meet his God. It is as if God thus providentially granted him a special inducement to repentance out of consideration of the enormity of his crime...the law grants to the condemned an opportunity which he did not grant to his victim, the opportunity to prepare to meet his God. Even divine justice here may be said to be tempered with mercy."

Brandon Wayne Hedrick (February 23, 1979 – July 20, 2006) was a convicted murderer who was executed by electric chair by the U.S. state of Virginia. He was convicted of the 1997 murder of 23 year-old Lisa Crider, who was kidnapped, robbed, raped, and shot in the face. He was the first person electrocuted in Virginia since 2003, when Earl Bramblett was executed for rape and murder.
