A POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) court in Kota has sentenced a man accused of rape and murder of his daughter to death and a judge in Bhilwara sent a rapist to life in prison.

In the first case, a security guard at a warehouse in Kota was awarded death penalty. The man was accused of raping his 17-year-old mentally ill daughter and later killing her after impregnating her.

The father had lodged an FIR in the case but post-mortem revealed a four-month fetus, following which police sent it for a DNA test. The test result and other evidence led to the arrest of the man in 2015.

In his order, judge Ashok Chaudhary said such a heinous crime hit the very social fibre and soul of the society. "The criminal has no chance to reform himself in jail and must be hanged till death," the judge said.

In another case, a Bihilwara court awarded life sentence to an alcoholic father who raped his 14-year-old daughter in July 2019.

The victim lived with her mother after the couple separated, but was visiting her father when the incident took place.

In a separate case, a woman at Nuh of Haryana has lodged a case with the police. The woman has accused her husband of raping her four-month-old daughter in Kaman in Bharatpur.

Nuh police has said they have sent the FIR to Kaman where it is being investigated.

The case sparked protests across India, garnered international media attention, and prompted lawmakers to toughen penalties for sex crimes
