A Somali military court has sentenced a police
officer to death by a firing squad for killing two people in in the capital,
Mogadishu, during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
The police officer, Hassan Adan Hassan, shot the
two people dead near their home in Mogadishu, in the pretext of enforcing a
Covid-19 curfew which had been imposed just hours before the incident.

The killing of the two young people sparked
protests in Mogadishu with protesters demanding the government to arrest and
put the police officer behind the killing into trial.
The officer has 30 days to appeal the sentence.
