On
this date, March 3, 2022, one-eyed Cop Killer, Markeith Loyd, was sentenced to
death in Orlando, Florida. He fatally shot
an Orlando police officer, Debra Clayton multiple times in 2017. I agree
with Donald Trump when he once stated that cop killers should be executed.
“We
believe that criminals who murder police officers should immediately, but with trial,
get the death penalty. But quickly. The trial should go fast. It’s got to be
fair, but it’s got to go fast.” - Donald Trump

stop. He then opened fire on her, striking her
at least three times. As the suspect fled, he turned back and fired his gun
again. Sgt. Clayton was transported to a nearby hospital, where she eventually
succumbed to her injuries. An Orange County sheriff's deputy spotted the
suspect at the intersection of North Lane and Pine Hills Drive and followed him
to a nearby apartment complex. The suspect shot at the deputy, hitting his
unmarked SUV twice, and then carjacked a second vehicle and continued to flee.
He abandoned the vehicle near the intersection of Rosemont Avenue and Cinderlane
Parkway and fled on foot and is still at large. Sgt. Clayton is survived by her
loving Husband and two adoring children. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her
family, both blood and blue. Sgt. Clayton, as you now patrol the streets of
Heaven, may you continue your vigilant watch over brothers and sisters in blue.
We at America Going Blue thank you for your service and promise to NEVER forget
you!

Fla. man sentenced to death for killing police officer
Jurors in November found Markeith Lloyd guilty in the
January 2017 death of Lt. Debra Clayton, and unanimously recommended a death
sentence
Associated Press
ORLANDO, Fla. — A judge on Thursday sentenced a Florida man to death for fatally shooting an Orlando police officer while he was on the run for killing his pregnant ex-girlfriend.
Jurors in November found Markeith Loyd, 46, guilty in the January 2017 death of Lt. Debra Clayton, and unanimously recommended a death sentence during a hearing in December. Circuit Judge Leticia Marques announced her decision during a brief hearing Thursday morning.
Lloyd is already serving a life sentence for killing Sade Dixon, his former girlfriend, a month before Clayton was killed.
Lloyd was on the run for killing Dixon when a shopper at a Walmart spotted him Jan. 9, 2017. Prosecutors said the shopper notified Clayton, who was also at the store, and she attempted to stop him. Clayton, 42, was killed during a shootout with Loyd outside the store.
Such an extreme act of
pure evil can only be met by the most extreme of responses - and that can only
be death. All my life I've been against the death penalty. I genuinely never
thought I'd say this, but I am now convinced that the monster who executed this
young woman in cold blood should, in turn, be killed as punishment for his
crime. - John
Stevens, Baron Stevens of Kirkwhelpington
“Although nothing can undo the heartache created by the defendant’s heinous actions, we hope that this brings solace to our community, knowing a dangerous murderer will face the highest penalty provided by the law,” Orlando police Chief Orlando Rolón said in a statement.
During the trial, prosecutors said the fatal shot was fired as Loyd stood over Clayton in the parking lot. She was shot four times.
She was a sergeant at the time of the shooting, but was promoted posthumously.
During multiple hearings since the shooting, Lloyd claimed he fired at Clayton in self-defense. His attorneys said he was insane at the time after becoming convinced the police were trying to kill him.
His mental health has been a key issue since his arrest, with the judge finally ruling last week that he was competent to continue with the sentencing hearing.
Clinical psychologist Xavier Amador testified that Lloyd suffers from the delusional belief he is a “slave” whom his “slave masters” — the judge and prosecutors — are intent on killing, the Orlando Sentinel reported. Another psychiatrist, Jeffrey Danziger, testified that Lloyd can’t effectively work with his defense team.
Lloyd also claimed he was acting in self-defense when he shot Dixon and her brother, who was injured, a month before Clayton was killed.
The defense team also said Lloyd suffered brain damage when officers beat and kicked him in the face as he crawled from under a home where he'd been hiding during a massive weeklong manhunt after Clayton was killed. Lloyd lost his eye in the beating and the officers were later cleared of any wrongdoing.
Another wrinkle in the case came in 2019 when then- Florida Gov. Rick Scott reassigned the case from then-State Attorney Aramis Ayala after she sparked outrage in the law enforcement community by saying she would not seek the death penalty against Lloyd.
Ayala said at the time that capital punishment had been unevenly applied, was not a deterrent for serious crimes and that she would not seek it in any case — a stance she had not publicly expressed during her campaign for the position.
Ayala announced Wednesday that she is running for Florida attorney general as a Democrat.
The Lloyd case has been winding its way through the court system for years, with Lloyd sometimes representing himself and lashing out in the courtroom.
If the death penalty was
not imposed then "wrong really has finally totally triumphed over right
and all civilised society, all we hold dear, is the loser." - John
Stevens, Baron Stevens of Kirkwhelpington
“All these families have suffered. Debra Clayton’s family has suffered. Sade Dixon’s family has suffered. All because of the evil actions of Markeith Lloyd,” Orange County Sheriff Mina told reporters outside the courthouse. “... And now it’s time for Markeith Lloyd to suffer.”
Quincy Morris, a cousin of Clayton, told WKMG the outcome is what God “wanted it to be.”
“Now she can rest in peace,” Morris added.

“As regards capital cases, the trouble is that
emotional men and women always see only the individual whose fate is up at the
moment, and neither his victim nor the many millions of unknown individuals who
would in the long run be harmed by what they ask. Moreover, almost any criminal,
however brutal, has usually some person, often a person whom he has greatly
wronged, who will plead for him. If the mother is alive she will always come,
and she cannot help feeling that the case in which she is so concerned is
peculiar, that in this case a pardon should be granted. It was really heartrending
to have to see the kinfolk and friends of murderers who were condemned to
death, and among the very rare occasions when anything governmental or official
caused me to lose sleep were times when I had to listen to some poor mother
making a plea for a criminal so wicked, so utterly brutal and depraved, that it
would have been a crime on my part to remit his punishment.” – Teddy Roosevelt, the 26th

‘It’s time for Markeith Loyd to suffer:’ Orlando leaders, Lt. Debra Clayton’s family react to cop killer’s death sentence
Loyd
shot, killed Clayton outside a Walmart in 2017 while on the run for the murder
of Sade Dixon
Judge Leticia Marques made her final decision months after a jury recommended the death penalty for Loyd, 46. Loyd was found guilty on five charges, including first-degree murder, in the shooting death of Orlando police Lt. Debra Clayton outside a Walmart in 2017 while he was on the run for killing his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Sade Dixon, in December 2016.
“Very pleased that Judge Marques sentenced cop killer Loyd to death. Rest in peace Lt. Debra Clayton,” Orange County Sheriff John Mina, who was Orlando’s police chief at the time of Clayton’s death, said in a tweet.
“Although nothing can undo the heartache created by the defendant’s heinous actions, we hope that this brings solace to our community, knowing a dangerous murderer will face the highest penalty provided by law,” said Orlando Police Chief Orlando Rolon in a statement.

After the sentencing, Clayton’s family spoke to the media.
Ashley
Thomas, Clayton’s sister, said she is well with the sentencing and “I know the family is well with this decision as well.”
“It’s been a hard five years just knowing that, just reliving it
every day like you’re reliving it every day, but today, I felt her presence. I
know she can rest and hopefully just heal from here,” she said.
“March
the 3rd, 2022 — God is so awesome,” Quincy Morris, Clayton’s cousin, said. “The outcome is what he wanted it to be.”
Morris
became emotional as she spoke about her memories of Clayton.
“He (Loyd) just took so much away from me that it hurts,” she said “Now, she can rest in peace.”
After the family addressed the
media, Mina and Rolon spoke as well.
“All these families have suffered. Debra
Clayton’s family has suffered, Sade Dixon’s family has suffered, Norm Lewis’
family has suffered, all because of the evil actions of Markeith Lloyd,” Mina said. “So now it’s time for Markeith Lloyd to suffer for 23 hours a
day in his cell not knowing when that death sentence is going to come.”
Mina said Lloyd tried to communicate with him during his trial.
“It was very hard to sit there in the courtroom and listen to his nonsensical outbursts and really just showing the community he was a violent person,” the sheriff said. “He would look over at us. He passed me a note through his lawyer at one point during trial and I have nothing to say to him. I’m glad he’s being put to death.”
“This has been a long and emotional ride, right. And the fact of the matter is that Markeith Loyd not only took lives, but he also affected many others, including his family, the families of everyone affected by his actions, and justice has been served today,” Rolon said.
Prosecutor Ryan Williams called Clayton a very special person and said, “I think the jurors recognized that their verdict was on her behalf.
“It’s just a long time and people make sacrifices for their families, I’ve made sacrifices, the two men next to me have,” Williams said tearfully, referring to Mina and Rolon standing next to him. “... It’s rewarding and frankly I try to make myself angry as I go through the process and it channels me ‘cause I know people depend upon what I do. Now that it’s over, it’s a little easier to let down a little bit.”
There is as much moral cowardice in shrinking from the execution of a
murderer as there is in hesitating to blow out the brains of a foreign invader.
