SAINT AMBROSE’S QUOTE ON DEATH [CHRISTIAN QUOTE FOR THE DEATH PENALTY ~ SUNDAY OCTOBER 20, 2013 TO SATURDAY NOVEMBER 2, 2013]

NOTICE: I will post a quote or article from a Christian in favor of capital punishment every fortnight.

Saint Ambrose
QUOTE: Accordingly, death is a harbor of peace for the just, but is believed a shipwreck for the wicked. [De bono mortis, 8, 31.]

AUTHOR: Aurelius Ambrosius , better known in English as Saint Ambrose (c. between 337 and 340 – 4 April 397), was a bishop of Milan who became one of the most influential ecclesiastical figures of the 4th century. He was one of the four original doctors of the Church.

DEATH IS NOT AN ADVENTURE AT ALL [PRO DEATH PENALTY QUOTE OF THE WEEK ~ SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 22, 2013 TO SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 28, 2013]

Erich Maria Remarque
QUOTE: For death is not an adventure to those who stand face to face with it. [All Quiet on the Western Front]

AUTHOR: Erich Maria Remarque (born Erich Paul Remark; 22 June 1898 – 25 September 1970) was a German author, most known for his novel: All Quiet on the Western Front.

APPLICATION: This quote was taken from his novel, All Quiet on the Western Front. This quote means that when life and death passes around the corner, be it war, terminally-ill patients or someone on death row, it is very scary and not fun at all. Some people say that the death penalty is the easy way out for killers but death is really more frightening than life when you have to face it.

UMAR PATEK THE DEMOLITON MAN SENTENCED ON 21 JUNE 2012

On this date, 21 June 2012, an Indonesian court sentenced Umar Patek to 20 years in jail for murder and bomb-making. He was found guilty of all six charges, which included involvement in attacks against churches on Christmas Eve 2000. Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty. During the trial Patek apologized to families of victims and maintained that he did nothing more than mix chemicals for the explosives.

Please go to this Blog Post to learn more and watch these two videos to see his reaction.

Patek, a suspected member of the Al-Qaida-linked Southeast Asian terror network Jemaah Islamiyah (JI), has been cooperating with police interrogators since his extradition from Pakistan, where he was arrested in January in the town where Osama bin Laden was subsequently killed by US commandos.
