One of my
beloved judges of all time, Sir James Fitzjames Stephen was born on this date, 3
March 1829. He would have been 184 years old if he was still alive. To
celebrate his birthday, I will post the Pro-Death Penalty Quote of the week
from him.
QUOTE: "Some men, probably,
abstain from murder because they fear that if they committed murder they would
be hanged. Hundreds of thousands abstain from it because they regard it with
horror. One great reason why they regard it with horror is that murderers are
hanged."
AUTHOR: Sir James Fitzjames Stephen, 1st Baronet
(3 March 1829 - 11 March 1894) was an English lawyer, judge and writer. He was
created 1st Baronet Stephen by Queen Victoria.
