On
this date, 9 March 1950, during post World War II Britain, Timothy Evans was
executed by hanging at Pentonville Prison. Timothy Evans was one of the first
‘innocent’ people which I heard of being wrongfully executed, when I was in my
childhood. His case was one of the few reasons that turned me to an
abolitionist. However, as time passes, I studied the case carefully, I had
doubts on whether he is truly innocent of his crimes.
